The radar level sensor operates on the principle of time domain reflection (TDR). In this method, an electromagnetic pulse travels along the cable or probe at the speed of light until it encounters the surface of the measured medium. At this point, a portion of the pulse is reflected back to the pulse transmitter, following the same path as the original signal.
The distance between the transmitter and the surface of the medium is in direct proportion to the propagation time of the pulse. Therefore, the height of the measured level can be calculated based on this timing information. This enables the radar level sensor to provide accurate and reliable measurements of fluid levels, regardless of the surrounding environmental factors.
